Start with explicit vinyl compatibility

The safest first filter is simple: the manufacturer should explicitly list vinyl as a supported surface. Do not infer compatibility from a generic “all pools” claim when a current product page provides a surface list.

Traction matters more than brute-force scrubbing

A vinyl liner does not need aggressive abrasion to look clean. Good pathing, stable wall contact and appropriate brush materials are more useful than chasing the most aggressive scrubbing claim.

Match filtration to your debris

Leaves and acorns favor basket capacity and easy emptying. Dust and fine sediment favor finer filtration. A dual-layer or replaceable fine-filter option can be more valuable than adding another cleaning mode.
