The biggest difference is filtration versus navigation intelligence
Aiper's clearest hardware advantage is mechanical filtration. Its current product page lists an 8,500 GPH flow rate, a 5 L basket and a replaceable MicroMesh filter that captures particles as small as 3 microns. If your recurring problem is silt, pollen, fine dust or other small particulate matter, that is a meaningful design difference—not just a larger headline number.
Beatbot takes a different approach. The AquaSense 2 Ultra publishes a lower 5,500 GPH flow rate and 150-micron mechanical filtration, but its HybridSense system combines an AI camera, infrared and ultrasonic sensors. Beatbot also advertises AI Cruise debris detection that can revisit detected debris after the main cleaning path. For a large pool, verify current documentation before purchase and consider the actual workload: floor area, wall area, waterline length, steps, platforms and the amount of debris the basket must hold before the battery becomes the bottleneck.
Steps and platforms: both make claims, but depth still matters
Aiper explicitly lists elevated-platform and slope coverage for the X1 Pro Max and markets obstacle traversal, ladder avoidance and stair-climbing capability. Beatbot says the AquaSense 2 Ultra can clean steps when they are wide enough and the water depth is greater than 1.31 feet; its multi-level platform feature lists a 13.7-inch minimum depth.
Neither statement guarantees that every stair geometry will work. Short risers, narrow treads, beach entries and tanning ledges remain physical constraints. If steps are the deciding factor, measure tread width and water depth before treating either robot as fully hands-off.
Daily ownership may matter more than another cleaning mode
Both robots publish up to five hours of floor cleaning and ten hours of surface cleaning, so runtime alone does not separate them much.
